They give even more depth to each sermon, knowing how God prepared each of them. ...what I wanted, honestly, was a week away from people, not three days of intense socializing and engaging in what was sure to be a long and in-depth discussion over the proposed changes to the synod's structure. But then God entered in...on the very next song.

We planned for 150, but by God's grace 185 ate a delicious catered lunch, and 200 attended the morning business session, listened to Keynote speaker, Teresa Szobody, and attended practical and inspiring workshops in the afternoon.

One refreshing meal that the Lord served me was proclaimed through the mouth of his servant, Pastor Tony Karlik. This message was what I needed to hear that morning. It was almost as if Jesus were speaking directly to me: "Ron, you have been wearing your pastor's hat and it needs to go. Take it off and let me minister to you!"

The 4th Annual Pastors Masters Golf Scramble will be held on, September 14th, 2009 at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey, MN. This event has been an encouragement to pastors as well as others serving in full time ministry.

Is prayer like tweeting? If I'm twittering, I don't really know if any of my friends are paying attention to what I'm writing. But I know for certain that God not only hears, but He answers my prayers. According to the writer to the Hebrews, "He (Jesus) always lives to make intercession for us."

In the July/August issue of Fast Company, I ran across a sidebar titled, "Nature's 10 Simple Rules for Survival." As I read the list of "rules" I couldn't help but see if they might help me address church sustainability and survival in a world which has gone just a little nuts. I'm talking about the church world, not just the business world.

Standing at the headwaters of the Mississippi River was a "bucket list" moment for me. As the 2007 movie of that title reveals, a bucket list is a list of the things you'd like to do before you kick it...the bucket. I'd never thought about it this way, but I'd always wanted to see the spot where the mighty Mississippi begins. And so, on a beautiful day in 2009, here it was.

In my recent readings and musings on missions I came across an article titled Luther and Missions in the 16th Century by the Rev. Dr. Klaus Detlev Schulz. Dr. Schulz reminds us of Luther's take on missions when he says, "All Christians are obliged to missionary witness. They live for the sake of their neighbors and assist them in witness and deed."
