PRESENTERS

Dr. Ethan Christofferson

In October 1990, Ethan began working among the Hakka Chinese in Taiwan as a Missionary. He initially focused his effort on learning the Hakka Language and culture.

Ethan began his doctoral studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) in August 2005. In 2007, Ethan and his wife returned to Taiwan and Ethan began the research for his dissertation, “Being ‘Hakka’ and Christianity: Exploring the Tensions between the ‘Hakka’ Ethnic Identity and Christianity in Northwestern Taiwan.” In May of 2010 he graduated from TEDS with a PhD in Intercultural Studies.

Dr. Robert Benne

Dr. Benne is the Director of the Center for Religion and Society at Roanoke College, Salem, Virginia. He has a BA from Midland Lutheran College, MA and PhD from the University of Chicago and Post graduate study at Hamburg and Cambridge Universities.

His Research and Teaching Interests include

  • Christian ethics
  • Christian sexual ethics
  • Movies and Meaning
  • Christian higher education
  • Social and cultural interpretation
  • Theology of Luther and Lutheranism
  • Theology of Reinhold Niebuhr

Dr. Benne has authored ten books, the latest is “Good and Bad Ways to Think about Religion and Politics”

Mr. Roy Heggland

Roy is an ordained elder, attorney, and business consultant. He serves the Church of the Lutheran Brethren as Associate for Biblical Stewardship.

Rev. Matthew Buccheri

Rev. Buccheri is an Assistant Pastor and Fellowship Group Director at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City.  Matthew is a graduate of New York University where he studied psychology and philosophy.  He received his MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa.  Matthew has functioned at various levels of small group ministry for over 15 years.
