I know that when my wife and I are traveling we often have different ideas as to how to get to the destination we have in mind. "Why didn't you turn there?" "Because I want to go this way." "But..." I'm grateful there is one way to God through Jesus Christ.

Standing at the headwaters of the Mississippi River was a "bucket list" moment for me. As the 2007 movie of that title reveals, a bucket list is a list of the things you'd like to do before you kick it...the bucket. I'd never thought about it this way, but I'd always wanted to see the spot where the mighty Mississippi begins. And so, on a beautiful day in 2009, here it was.

Would you rather be preached to or taught by a person whose Bible never got used? Never got a word underlined? Never got a note written in the margin? Never took a little abuse because it was constantly taken from a shelf and, over time, got used up? No, I don't think so.

In this first Blog (Bruce Log) I'm going to make a confession, then an apology and then offer some advice. That's what usually happens with repentant people: You are sorry for something; you apologize for it, change your behavior, and then tell everyone else that they should, too.
